Hydrogen
Articles > Energy sources > Hydrogen
Hydrogen presents many advantages to contemporary energy methods. This idea utilizes electrolysis, which uses electricity to separates the oxygen and hydrogen of water. Something you may not know, however, is that it works the other way around, too: when you combine oxygen and hydrogen in the right way, you get water and electricity.
I see this being most useful in larger applications, such as vehicles. This is already in use in some prototype vehicles (as of April '07), and if I'm correct it's awaiting testing. I see a lot of potential in this idea; the only problems that I see would be accumulating and transporting the hydrogen. Hydrogen is volatile and would be hard to transport without it blowing up. It does make a pretty neat-looking flame though. ^_^
